Bananas Foster French Toast

on

One of my boyfriend’s favorite breakfast items is french toast. I had made a fresh loaf of gluten free sandwich bread last night (recipe previously posted) and decided that it would make a great french toast for breakfast. But not just any french toast… Bananas Foster French Toast!

Here’s what you’ll need…

4 slices of sturdy bread (of course I recommend my gluten free sandwich bread 😉)

2 eggs

1 cup milk of choice (I used almond/coconut milk)

1 T of ground cinnamon

1 T brown sugar

For the Bananas Foster topping…

2 ripe bananas

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup water

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

The Directions…

1. Whisk eggs, milk, ground cinnamon and brown sugar in a bowl big enough to dredge your bread

2. Heat medium sized skillet on medium, spray with non-stick cooking spray

3. Dredge both sides of each piece of bread, place in skillet and brown each side (I did two pieces at a time, you don’t want to crowd your toast)

4. Prepare your Bananas Foster topping by cooking down the maple syrup, water, cinnamon, brown sugar and bananas over medium heat until the bananas are nice and soft

5. Transfer toast to a plate, cover with the DELICIOUS topping and sprinkle with ground cinnamon and powdered sugar

6. Enjoy 💜

 Leland tested and approved!
